My Faith

I have written previously about my first experience at internalizing the notion that, a Being I might never see in the flesh named Jesus Christ of Nazareth, would save my soul and bring me eternal peace. What I did not know then and there as a boy in that church is that the river I stood beside with my Savior would become a raging torrent strife with terrible danger and intrigue at every turn. There were times in my life when I imagined, then believed, that I was alone in the raging madness swirling all about me. In those days I was wrong to think my Savior had left me, and by the ability to write these words now, I am blessed. Grace has been with me especially in those times when I thought no grace existed at all. Whatever the terror, or whatever the heartache, or whatever the disappointment, it always comes back to me and that Man beside the river bank. When I close my eyes and imagine walking with Him, I do not envision the blood from His wounds flowing into the water. I do not see His face writhing in pain. I imagine Him as a Living Being born of Light. It is very concerning to me that so many Christians rely so heavily on Jesus' blood and suffering to save them. Jesus Christ suffered and died for me, so everything is ok, that is basically the attitude. I tell you this, Jesus Christ suffered and died for those who would believe that He suffered and died, I believe that with all my heart. That being said, I hope beyond hope that when I find myself in His Presence that I will have more than His suffering and death as justifications for being there. Jesus told us that the only Way to be where He is, is through true knowledge. True knowledge will be very hard to obtain for those who depend solely and firmly on Christ's death to save them. True knowledge can only be found in Christ's life, which is the same as His Word. There is where the true knowledge rests and there is where people should being going for salvation. His Word is what He left us with and He had to put on flesh to leave It. In that flesh He lived as He would live in the Heavens, and it is that Life that we should worship and emulate at every turn.
