The Numbers

"Love thine enemy." "If you should be struck upon one cheek, turn and offer the other." "Do here what I have done for you." Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The majority of the American population would confess with their lips that Jesus is their Lord and Savior. It just does not add up. When the numbers are added, or subtracted, or divided, or multiplied, they simply do not make sense. What is the number of homeless? What is the number of hungry? How many go uneducated? How many get murdered, or raped, or robbed, or worse? What is the number of our wars? How many will die tonight by their own hand? It would be easy to go on and on, but even I have my limits when it comes to my ability to digest the numbers and stay sane. Christ, the Teacher of Man and God Incarnate, broke it down quite clear for us. He made the math very simple with the power of His words. We have dishonored Him greatly with the numbers we have compiled and continue compiling. Our Teacher has taught us and we are failing. Every hungry child leaves a mark. Every battered woman shall be counted. Every persecuted soul shall be duly noted. Every bullet fired in anger will have a description of it read in Heaven. All great nations since the beginning of great nations have called themselves great because of high numbers. We are the same, and our numbers are preparing us for destruction. Too many working for man, and far too few working for our Father; may God have mercy on us that we could turn it around.
