I Pledge Allegiance To Some Flag

I pledge allegiance to some flag of the richest person available
And to the highest bidder, and which he stands, under illusions
with delusions and mania for all.
There was a time when someone screwing around with the Pledge of Allegiance would have really offended me. There was a time when I thought that the United States was indeed as great as I was taught to believe it was. Those days are gone. They have been buried under hundreds of billions of reasons why this country is nothing but one of the worst greed whore civilizations to ever disgrace the Wilky Way Galaxy. This place has come to be a land of the haves and the have nots on a ass-u-mental scale. Then on top of that, our stupidity has to be calculated, and when that is done, our reality becomes quite terrifying. We pride ourselves on being the most diverse nation on Earth, but fail to address the fact that we are as fragmented as we have ever been. It doesn't make a damn what's in the melting pot if it all tastes like shit when you put it at the dinner table. Our democrats have their minds right, but just can't escape being a bunch of assholes. Our republicans have their heads up their rectums quite deep, and they could care less about being assholes. We have become a great big collection of assholes whether we want to be or not, and it's all about the money with us. Economy, jobs, dividends, retirements, policies, debts: these words define what makes us tick and none of them have anything to do with anything other than loot, denada, scratch, whatever you want to call it. Our education system is broken, why? Money. Our healthcare system is broken, why? Money. Our housing system is broken...money. Our children are starving...money. Our elderly rot in nursing homes...money. Homeless in the millions...money. When I was a little kid standing in class saying the Pledge of Allegiance, I wasn't thinking about money. When I put my hand over my heart, I was not giving an oath to an insurance company. I was thinking of being a part of a country that is so much better than what we are today. I believed then, that liberty and justice were words that could not be given a price tag. It is a sad day when a man of faith finds that he has spent many an oath believing a myth. I do not speak of God our Father, I speak of the United States of America. Who we are, what we do, what we give our oath to, are all tall tales, farces, mythical nonexistent places. I am an American by birth, I just wish I knew what that meant.
